Tech Topic Connection

         Throughout my introduction course to IT, I have been pondering different questions and topics. The main topic that I want to know more about is the different jobs within the IT career field. The reason I want to know more about this is due to me wanting to “break” into the cyber security field. Throughout my introductory to IT course, we were able to cover topics ranging from IT security and even the basics of what should be the fundamentals of IT in the workforce. Knowing about the different jobs in the field directly relates to the overall information of the IT field and the courses information. Knowing this history of IT will help see the growth in the field and show how the vast different jobs occurred. Additionally, knowing the jobs can help me where I want to be in the field, and this can help me understand how this affects the direct history of computers and knowing how they operate. Overall, knowing the history as well as the fundamentals of IT will help someone in the field of IT and any other job related.

            With the vast number of jobs in the field, there are plenty of options for how to get into the field. There are jobs in IT about programming computers and working on the specific hardware of the computer. Which knowing about the different programming and hardware can help someone in a services and support role of IT. Or even help someone in the Security field of IT. According to Vahid and Lysecky, “Popular programming languages used today include C, C++, Java, Python, and JavaScript, each with different strengths/weaknesses and for different purposes” (2019). The positions must work together to overall service the customer and provide the best experience for the business in the end.

            Next, I will talk about database management and the use of databases in the IT field. With the many of jobs in the field, managers can use different databases in order to organize the departments and effectively engage certain jobs with certain situations. Additionally, the managers can use a database to distribute the workload to certain IT teams. Which in the end, will service the customers and the department to the best it can.

            Now to finalize this post by talking about security and management in the field. Every position will receive direction not only management but also security. The security team in IT will ensure that all users follow protocol while also protecting against the unknown factors in IT. To summarize an article from the Checkpoint security website, “IT security controls a wide range of platforms. Which includes, Identity security, network security, cloud security, endpoint security, security of applications, incident response, and having management to ensure all is deployed appropriately” (n.d.). With the importance of security and the protection they provide, is the main reason I am interested in the IT field.

             As stated throughout this post, the IT field is massive. Every job accomplishes a different item and provides its importance. Which shows how not just one job is important, but every job is important to the IT field and the companies which use them. Which is why I wanted to learn about the different jobs in IT since knowing about the different jobs can help anyone know where to turn to or know what each does to help them in their work.
